Sturdy and comfortable
Baseball Catcher Gloves

Baseball gloves come in a variety of types, models and sizes. Baseball catcher gloves, called mitts, are made to be used only by the catcher. The mitts have extra padding to absorb the sting from fastballs. They are large to provide an easy to see target for the pitcher.

If you are a recreational player, you could use an utility glove. These gloves are larger than regular infielder gloves, but not as large as a catcher mitts. You can use utility gloves for playing several positions.

An active player might want to choose a brand name glove. The better known gloves are made by Rawlings, Nike, Nokona and Mizuno. The top of the line mitts will cost about $150-300. When purchasing a quality mitt from these manufacturers, you can be assured that it will be sturdy, comfortable and have the latest safety features.

For example, a Rawlings oil tanned leather mitt costs about $170. The Rawlings Pro Preferred catcher's mitt costs about $240. Cheaper models are available for about $40-90.
