First Base Gloves

When choosing a baseball glove, you need to consider the position you play. There are first base gloves, outfielder, infielder, pitcher and catcher gloves. Gloves for first base and the outfield positions are larger then pitcher and infielder gloves.

You need to consider, how much money you want to spend. Prices range from about $12 to more than $200. If you play occasionally than a cheaper model will do the job. It might be better to spend less for youth gloves, because they might be used only 1-3 years. Youth models are made mostly from synthetic material. They cost less and are easier to break in.

Gloves for first base and the catcher are called mitts. They are larger and have more padding to absorb the shock of fast balls.

Gloves should be the correct size and easy to handle. You should be able to open and close them quickly and also get the ball out fast to throw to another base.
